Akira Jones was arrested on Tuesday, February 6, and charged with sexual conduct of prisoners, WREG stories. The fees got here after the Shelby County Sheriff’s Workplace (SCSO) acquired a criticism on December 20, 2023, concerning a corrections deputy allegedly having intercourse with an inmate contained in the jail.

“It’s forbidden by legislation and coverage. The SCSO is not going to tolerate the misconduct of any worker and can proceed to carry our staff accountable to the best moral requirements to make sure our public’s belief.”

Jones didn’t make it a full 12 months with the SCSO after starting her corrections deputy position in Might 2023. Final week, Jones remained jailed on a $5,000 bond.
Her arrest comes one month after a corrections officer in Elkhart County, Indiana, was arrested for allegedly having intercourse with a feminine inmate, WNDU stories. Malachi Yoder, 26, was recognized because the suspect after a feminine inmate advised corrections workers that she had intercourse with an unidentified male corrections officer. Yoder was arrested and jailed at Elkhart County Jail.
